S2P Forum will feature leading researchers, scholars, and practitioners with expertise in the challenges surrounding equity in assessment. Sessions will have broad appeal across a multidisciplinary group in the fields of learning disabilities, special education, school psychology, neuropsychology, and speech-language pathology. Topics include educational disparities and increasing access to educational resources, addressing issues of inequities in the assessment of multilingual and multicultural learners, providing accommodations that allow for equitable access to instruction for all students, and many more!
Welcome Keynote Address by Frank Worrell, PhD, APA President-elect
Frank C. Worrell is the president-elect of the American Psychological Association (APA), and is the first school psychologist to hold this position.
Currently, he is a Professor in the Graduate School of Education at the University of California, Berkeley, where he serves as Director of the School Psychology program among other roles, Faculty Director of the Academic Talent Development Program, and Faculty Director of the California College Preparatory Academy.
His areas of expertise include academic talent development/gifted education, at-risk youth, cultural identities, scale development and validation, teacher effectiveness, time perspective, and the translation of psychological research findings into school-based practice.
Dr. Worrell is a member of the editorial boards of several journals and has received numerous awards for his work and research. Dr. Worrell has ongoing research collaborations in China, Ethiopia, Germany, Iran, Israel, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Nigeria, Peru, Slovenia, Turkey, Uruguay, and the United Kingdom.
His most recent book is The Cambridge Handbook of Applied School Psychology (Cambridge University Press, 2020; co-edited with Tammy L. Hughes and Dante D. Dixson).
