In partnership with the University of Arizona SALT Center, the Learning Disabilities Association of America (LDA) is pleased to announce the launch of The LD Institute.
The LD Institute will address the growing needs of children and adults with disabilities for high quality services by offering parents, professionals, and policy makers a trusted source for evidence-based information to improve practice. The LD Institute will leverage its professional advisory board and national network to offer continuing education, LD Certificate Programs, publications for professionals and parents, advocacy training, and issue briefs for policymakers and legislators. Funding for this initiative will come in large part through a grant from the Learning Disabilities Foundation of America.
The LD Institute is a collaborative effort between LDA of America and the University of Arizona Strategic Alternative Learning Techniques (SALT) Center, both of which are committed to helping students with learning disabilities reach their full potential.
The SALT Center is a nationally recognized model of comprehensive enhanced services for students with learning and attention challenges. The SALT Center inspires students with mild to moderate learning and attention challenges to succeed in higher education.
Bringing together LDA’s professional experts in the fields of research and practice with the SALT Center’s model of success in higher education for students with learning and attention issues will maximize the impact of the new program.
The LD Institute will provide education and resources aligned to the most current research and best practices in the field of learning disabilities to ensure accurate identification and appropriate interventions. The Institute will also inform federal and state policies affecting individuals with learning disabilities.
The Institute is hosting its first webinar series this spring, Specific Learning Disabilities: Identification Methods, the Role of Executive Function, and Insights from Cognitive Neuroscience, and features experts Dawn Flanagan, George McCloskey, James B. Hale, and D. J. Bolger. This webinar series begins March 25, 2022.
