President’s Message

LDA’s President provides an update on some very positive things that are happening with LDA — and an invite to join us at the LDA of America annual conference in Fort Worth — where there will be many excellent speakers and panel discussions and where the Board of Directors will be working on future plans.

Hello Ms. McGaw, my name is Aleshia Brown and I’m reaching out to ask if you have recommendations for colleges (masters program) for adults with learning disabilities? I’m 49 and looking to make some major changes and was wondering if there are scholarships to help pay for college.

Typically, your local library will have books on scholarships to apply for; however, you may have to have several small ones to cover your costs. Additionally, check with the institution that you would like to attend for scholarships, FastWeb at http://www.fastweb.com, or http://www.finaid.org. A suggestion on graduate schools for people with learning disabilities include checking to make sure the institutions have the major you want. Then contact the Disability Services Office to disclose and see what reasonable accommodations will be awarded.
