It was a pleasure to meet many state affiliate presidents and leaders at the 56th annual conference. Below are pertinent updates from affiliate activities during the conference.
Council of State Presidents
The following individuals were elected to serve as the state presidents’ representatives and assistant state presidents’ representative
- State presidents’ representative – Cathy Einhorn, LDA of Florida
- Assistant state presidents’ representative – Rachel Krueger, LDA of Texas
In this capacity, Cathy will represent the Council of State Presidents on the LDA of America Board of Directors. Cathy and Rachel will host our monthly state affiliate leaders’ meetings along with other programming and services to be planned.
LDA/IDA State Affiliate/Branch Collaboration
During the conference. LDA affiliate leaders met with Janet Thibeau. IDA Branch Council Chair, and Anna Reuter, Director, Partner Assurance, IDA. LDA affiliate leaders had a robust discussion with Janet and Anna about potential areas of collaboration with their respective IDA branches in their states.

Affiliate and Membership Report to LDA of America Board of Directors
Please review the affiliate and membership report that I presented to the LDA of America Board of Directors during the February 2019 meeting.
As affiliate leaders return to the states, I have been invigorated by outstanding activities planned by affiliates including the soon-to-be reestablished LDA of Pennsylvania whose services will include reading tutoring, STEM outreach, and advocacy. Additionally, LDA of Minnesota has been approved by the Minnesota Office of Higher Education to be a part of a small group of organizations to develop an Alternative Teacher Licensure program.
