Learn All About Michigan’s Dyslexia Handbook: A Free Webinar

At LDA of Michigan, we have been actively working with our partners to advocate for Dyslexia Legislation by educating legislators and members of our communities . The original bills that were in committee last year included developing a Dyslexia Guidebook within the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) that would be used by schools across Michigan.

We are still working on the legislation but we are excited to share that the Guidebook has been developed: the “Michigan Dyslexia Handbook: A Guide to Accelerating Learner Outcomes in Literacy” was released August 2022. 

In the Press Release announcement, MDE shared that this handbook has been “designed to help educators develop a shared understanding of best practices to prevent reading difficulties associated with the primary consequences of dyslexia—a word-level reading disability. The handbook also provides assessment practices needed to inform instruction and intervention methods for learners with dyslexia characteristics”.
