Happy New Year to everyone in our LDA family from your Affiliate Support/Membership Committee. With the holidays now behind us, our attention turns to the upcoming International LDA Conference in Anaheim in February. As Disneyland is within walking distance of the conference site, not only will the conference be exciting and packed with the latest information on learning disabilities, but will offer a unique and fun filled setting.
Once again state affiliates are being encouraged to nominate an outstanding volunteer for recognition at the national conference. The nomination process is easy and takes only a few minutes to complete. Also, state affiliates can shine a spotlight on a special and/or successful project in their state through the Affiliate Accolade program. This is easy and takes very little time. Affiliates have already received information on the application processes for both programs. Please feel free to contact Ernie Florence for any further information or with any questions. We are happy to report that the New Jersey and Illinois affiliates have already submitted nominations in both categories. Be sure to stop by the Exhibit Hall at the national conference to see a special display of all the volunteers being recognized and honored. You can also see the Affiliate Accolades during the cocktail hour prior to the banquet on Friday evening. Get your nominations and accolades in and join the fun.
During conference this year members of the Affiliate Support/Membership Committee along with state presidents will be greeting conference participants at the membership booth in the Exhibit Hall. State affiliates will have information on their state affiliates available at the booth. If you are already a member, be sure to stop by and meet fellow members. We encourage non-members to stop by and join the leading organization advocating for individuals with learning disabilities. Also available for purchase at the membership table will be unique and newly designed LDA t-shirts. Cost of the shirts will be $12.00 with any proceeds going to support various programs in LDA.
This promises to be an exciting and cutting edge conference! Several committee members have already made plans to arrive early and enjoy Disneyland and Downtown Disney prior to the official conference opening on Wednesday, February 19. We will all then enjoy the world’s premier conference on learning disabilities and gather information for use when we return to our respective states. See you in Anaheim!
