The much anticipated International Conference of LDA of America in Chicago is fast approaching. Much planning is taking place to make this conference a very rewarding, informative, and worthwhile event.  One only has to browse through the conference book to realize that an incredible lineup of speakers and lecturers is in place.  There are also other very worthwhile activities, events, and opportunities being planned for its members and state affiliates.

First and foremost, LDA realizes that its members are its most important asset and is making plans for a very special event to honor its valuable members throughout the world.  A Membership Reception will be held on Tuesday, February 17, at the Hilton Hotel from 7:00- 9:00 p.m. and is open to ALL LDA members. The National President will be in attendance along with LDA Staff, members of the Board of Directors and the Professional Advisory Board.  Each attendee will receive a complimentary beverage and light hors d’oeuvres to enjoy, complements of reception sponsors.  It will be a great opportunity to meet other members from your respective states, other states and countries and LDA leaders. Make plans now to attend this reception and join in the fun!

Does your state affiliate have some special project or activity it is proud of or could brag about? Would you like to share that activity with other state affiliates AND possibly win a COMPLIMENTARY REGISTRATION to the International Conference in Orlando in 2016? Any program or project you feel good about or take pride in is worthy to be shared with other affiliates. Applications for Affiliate Accolades have been distributed to affiliates and can be obtained from them or by contacting Jayme Vertullo at the national office. All Affiliate Accolades will be shared at a meeting of the national LDA Presidents on Wednesday, February 18.  At the end of the presentations, the state presidents will vote on the Affiliate Accolade they feel is the most worthy, innovative, or exceptional.  That winner will receive the complimentary registration to the conference in Orlando.  Applications are due on February 10, 2015. Make plans now to submit your state project for inclusion.

Last but not least, does your state have an outstanding volunteer whom you would like to shine the spotlight on?  Once again, LDA will be honoring Outstanding Volunteers at the conference with a special display in the conference exhibit hall throughout the conference.  All that’s needed is a small photo (jpg) with a short description of what makes them special to your state affiliate.  The process is easy to complete. Submission applications are due on February 6 and can also be obtained from your state affiliate or Jayme Vertullo at the national office.

We hope you will plan now to join us at the special membership reception on February 17 as well as submit applications for both Affiliate Accolades and Volunteer Recognition.  This conference in Chicago promises to be one of the best ever and we are look forward to your attendance and participation. See you in Chicago!
