   President’s Budget Highlights ‘Results Driven Accountability’ In early March the Administration released the president’s budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2015 (FY 2015; School Year 2015-16), with an interesting twist for IDEA funding. Rather than provide an increase for IDEA-Part B State Grants, the Administration has requested $100 million in new funding for Results Driven Accountability Incentive grants to support the work of the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) in moving special education from a compliance-based to a results-driven system. 2015 Annual Conference Call for Proposals

Learning Disabilities Association of America is seeking submissions for the 2015 Conference to be held in Chicago, IL, February 18-21, 2015. Anyone wishing to present a paper, conduct a workshop, provide an informational session, or make a formal presentation is invited to submit a proposal. LDA values sessions that present current and best practices, including basic information about the nature of learning disabilities as well as innovative approaches to advocacy, assessment, intervention, and instruction. Is a Learning Disability Considered a Mental Illness?

Question: If someone has a learning disability can it be considered a mental illness? We have a wonderful club in our city for those who suffer from mental illness. I have a friend who has a learning disability. I am curious if he can use their services. Answer: No, a Learning Disability is not a mental illness. Learning Disabilities are neurologically-based.
